About This Item
N Y: The Textile Publishing Company. Very Good- with no dust jacket. [1896]. First Edition. Limited Editions Club. Color Illustrations; 205 pages; Width: 11" Height: 14.5". Bound in maroon cloth over beveled boards with stamped gilt lettering to the spine and bright color pastedowns to the front and rear cover. The book shows external wear, with rubbing and minor scuffing/scratching to covers. A 1/2" closed tear appears in the lower half of the spine cover. Minor loss of material can be seen at the top/bottom and the outside corners of the boards. The binding is sound. The edges of the text block are tinted red. The front endpaper, the preliminary pages and the first 75 pages of text display water markings to the fore edge, growing ever smaller as one progresses though the text. A minor water mark can also be seen on the fore edge of last pages. The rear endpaper is lightly soiled. The pages of text are clean and bright. This work is lavishly illustrated, with views of buildings, interiors, full-page advertisements, portraits, and various aspects of manufacturing in the 19th century.
