New York: Crown Publishers, (1950). First edition. SIGNED BY VAN WYCK BROOKS and dated "1950" in pencil on front pastedown. An autobiography of sorts of the older brother of Gertrude Stein edited by Edmund Fuller. Small 4to red cloth with gilt-stamped spine blocked in black; red top edge stain; 331 pages, including index. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs including frontis, "Leo Stein in 1937" by Carl Van Vechten. Very good to near fine with red at spine mellowed and endpapers a little darkened; in about very good dust jacket with rubbed area at base of spine, light soiling, shallow chipping and few tears.
