Small 8vo. xvii, 87 pp. Title page design, 8 plates. Blue cloth, gilt. A very fine copy with pictorial dust jacket. Account of the overland trip by the Santa Fe Trail. Udell traveled as far as Santa Fe, thence by Beale's road to California. Of particular interest is the descriptions of the hazards encountered by the first large emigrant party over Beale's new road from Albuquerque, including a violent attack by Mojave Indians. The Argonaut Book Shop was founded in 1941 in the middle of the financial district of San Francisco. The Argonaut was a founding member of the Antiquarian Booksellers\' Association of America and has been a member in good standing ever since. The Shop is now located just three blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco and is open six days a week. Parking facilities include ample street space and a parking garage close by.
