About This Item
New Brunswick: Rutgers University Press, 1965 First printing of the first edition. Association Copy: Signed and inscribed by Howard Nemerov to Bernard and Anne Malamud directly on the title page: ""for Bern & Anne, / affectionately, / Howard." Book in fine condition; dust jacket with a crease and closed tear to upper front cover, a short closed tear near upper front spine fold, moderate wear to spine ends (primarily head of spine), and light to corners, else fine. A scarce association of two Pulitzer Prize recipients.
Nemerov and Malamud were colleagues at Bennington and two of the great literary figures of the second half of the 20th C.: Nemerov winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, the National Book Award and the Bollingen for his COLLECTED POEMS, was twice Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress; Malamud, too, won a NBA and the Pulitzer Prize
