About This Item
New York: Farrar Straus Giroux Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. (1979), 116pp, index, portrait of Gregg. VG in VG dj. Gregg is remembered for his classic account of the Santa Fe Trail, COMMERCE OF THE PRAIRIES, published in 1844. (See Howes G401; Graff 1659; Wagner-Camp 108). He died six years later, and little was known of him until his notebooks, diaries, and letters were published in the 1940's, with a long biographical essay by Horgan. The present volume is a revised edition of that essay, plus an analysis and interpretation of Gregg's only book..
