About This Item
New York: Doubleday, Doran & Co, 1931. First Edition. Octavo. 455pp., signed by the author and tipped onto the front pastedown is a letter from Morley on The New York Evening Post letterhead to an unidentified person, ...."that the letter was forwarded to him from Doubleday".... This person evidently wanted to reprint a few passages of Morley's work. Morley writes in a somewhat jokingly way ...."the book from which the passages are taken is purchasable at bookstores, and that the equally perplexed perpetrator of the work and his wife, his four children, his serving maid his dog and his automobile and the mortgage on his house, all desire nourishment from possible royalties why then good man, no harm, no harm at all, world ensure! Good luck-yours indeed, Christopher Morley". bound in green cloth, spine lettering gilt over black, spine darkened, in unclipped dust jacket with darkening to spine and a bit of chipping to spine ends. A very good copy.
