London: John Lane The Bodley Head Limited, 1898. Second Edition. Green Cloth. Very Good Minus/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7Â¾" - 9Â¾" tall. N/a. 444, 2(ads.) Stated second edition to the copyright page. A very good minus, clean, tight copy in original publisher's finely ribbed green cloth - with cream titles and detailing to the spine and to the front board. Very little fading to the spine as is often the case with this title. No splitting to the inner hinges - remains very tightly bound. A former owner has made an extensive ink notes regarding this title and has dated it Sept. 1906 to almost the entire front endpaper. Rather unusually he has signed both the front board and the front paste-down in probably the same ink. A later owner has placed a square bookplate (unusual featuring sunflowers and other flowers - a little arts and crafts in style) to the lower corner of the front paste-down partially obscuring the above mentioned name. Apart from the extensive inscription to the front endpaper, a very good, clean, tight well preserved second edition copy.
