Revised & reprinted.* Date of Publication: 1928 (1858)* Publisher: The Hulbert Publishing Company.* Binding and cover condition: Mid green cloth, gilt title to spine and bright gilt portrait and simulated signature to face. Spine and lower corners faded/stained. Top front corner bumped with very minor rubs to head and tail of spine. ACC* Jacket condition: No dust wrapper. ND* Contents condition: PRIVATE COPY NOT EX-LIBRARY. End papers coloured black. Top edge gilt. Clean, and bright with no reading wear, no annotations or inscriptions. Some damp damage to page edges and slight paper distortion to glazed pages carrying photographs. Otherwise very good for age. GD* Illustrations: Numerous b/w photos, prints and line drawings throughout.* Pages: 408 pp. text. cxiii pp. appendices, index & blank pages at rear.* Description: This tricentenary edition was revised by Frank Mott Harrison with marginal notes, addenda and appendices from the original 1885 edition by John Brown B.A. D.D., minister. The work covers his early life, the Ministry in Bedfordshire and his interaction with the forces of the Civil War. The writing of Pilgrim?s Progress and The Holy War and their impact on literature. There are chapters also on Bunyan?s descendants and successors together with his posthumous publications. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall illustrated frontis.* A NEAR GD+ copy with some damp damage reducing it to ACCEPTABLE. No dust jacket.*
