This is a 17-Volume collection of works of Historical Fiction by Luise Mühlbach, a well-known German Author, who wrote most of her work in the 1860s and early 1870s. Her Books focus on several well-known German and European personalities including Frederick the Great, Joseph the Second, Empress Josephine, Goethe and Schiller, Napoleon, Marie Antoinette, King Henry and others. Her Books were translated into English by several different translators and published as a set by A.L. Fowle, Publisher, of New York in 1905. This Set was not published with Volume Numbers for each Book. Each Book contains 400-650 pages of text and three to five illustrations.There are 20 Volumes in the complete set. The book is in excellent condition. The pages are white, of high quality, and the book smells pleasant. One page has a small easily overlooked punch-rip. Binding is good. Hardcover is green with black trim and gold embossed author and title only on the spine.The Dust Jacket is ripped and taped and has some insect damage and torn corners.What makes this second 1933 edition book especially interesting, is that it is signed, small and unpretentious, in fine black ink by the author.The book is written in Czechoslovakian.The story is a Czechoslovakian version of "Robinhood" of sorts, a blend of fact and magical fiction of the mythical or legendary Nikola Suhaj, (depending on who you believe).The story takes place in Ruthenia, mostly after, but also during the First World War. xxviii, 470 pp. Large 8°, [9¼ x 6½], Quarter leather with gilt stamped spine and alligator skin–like paper-covered boards. Nice indigo speckling on textblock edges. Light wear with some sunning at top of boards and a bit of wear on corners. Interior clean, little if any foxing, and a few marginalia in pencil. Plates are present ("Avec 5 planches dont 4 en Chromo et 80 Figures dans le Texte."), but plates don't appear to be bound in the correct places. Also, margins on plates appear tight. Still very good with a nice look. The author claims that the league of enemies of grape production herein is not exhaustive, "la liste des parasites, animaux ou végétaux, qui s'attaquent ànos récoltes augmente d'année en année, but the orders of Hémiptères, Lépidoptères, Névroptères, Orthoptères, Coléoptères, Hyménoptères inclusive of 90 species are described here. It is a wonder that there are any grapes left for wine.

This small volume contains the potery of Claudius Claudiani, known as Claudian (c. 370-c. 404 AD). A poet of Greek origin who wrote in Latin, he has been considered the last significant poet in the classical tradition and was in particular known for his epigrams praising Romans in significant political positions, as well as his poetry on mythic topics. He was considered a poet of importance in the Middle Ages.
This edition of Claudian's works was published by Daniel Elzevier, a member of the significant Dutch publishing House of Elzevier, in 1677. This is an excellent example of the small editions for which the House of Elzevier was particularly well-known, measuring approximately 2.5 inches wide by 4.5 inches tall, and its contents accord with their focus on classical works as well as editions of the Greek New Testament.
