VERY GOOD. xlvii, [4], 5-339, [1], [9], 4-335, [47] pp. Crown 8vo, red morrocco leather over boards, elaborate spine gilt, both covers ornately ruled in gilt, gilt tooled turn-ins, all edges gilt (in sum, a lot of gold here); blue endpapers, engraved frontispiece (loose) vol. 1, 15 b/w engraved plates throughout both vols. 20th century owner's stamp to both FPEP's, owner's signature d. 1820 in pen to both FFEP versos, some trivial rubbing to tips and faint sunning to spine, a bit bowed, some light toning and offsetting, very clean and sharp otherwise. A cooperative publication between 12 firms, evidence of the considerable outlay this fine binding required.
