Cheap edition of this biographical study of French artist Jean Francois Millet by Julia Cartwright, a bright copy. A comprehensive study of the life and work off Jean-Francois Millet, French artist in the nineteenth century known as one of the founders of the Barbizon school in rural France. His art is representative of the movement of Realism, and often depicts scenes of peasant farmers and pure landscapes. The cheap edition of this work, originally published in 1896. Written by Julia Cartwright, british historian and art critic. Illustrated with eight full page plates in black and white, including frontispiece. With preface and index to rear. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, lightly bumped to head and tail of spine and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Light minor spotting to endpapers, pages otherwise clean with a touch of age toning, as usual with the type of paper used. Very Good Indeed
