Also includes detailed reviews of new and classical jazz albums, notes on important collector's records (often obscure and rediscovered), news features on bands, jazz musicians of the day, etc., historical photos of performers and more. Scarce. 36 pp. 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". Tight, unmarked copy with minimal shelf wear and lightly rusted staples. Published for only two years, JI was a non-commercial, color-blind magazine that gained acclaim for its focus on serious jazz for advanced enthusiasts rather than quasi-jazz, also for its unbiased, exceptionally informed articles and reviews.
