About This Item
Jane Withers (born April 12, 1926) became one of the most popular child stars in Hollywood in the 1930s and early 1940s, with her films ranking in the top ten list for box-office gross in 1937 and 1938. During the Depression when life was more famine than feast, child stars like Jane became the blue plate special of the day.
In 1932, Jane went to Hollywood beginning with bit parts and eventually winning the plum role of the obnoxious brat who bedevils sweet little Shirley Temple in Bright Eyes (1934). This role won her a contract at Fox Studios and for the next seven years, she made 47 films as a child star. After her Fox contract ended in 1943, she went on to appear in many films, including Samuel Goldwyn's The North Star. To list all of her movies would take pages. In 1955, she was cast in a sizeable role in The Movie Epic, GIANT.
This is a rare and sizeable collection lovingly cared for. The three Jane dolls depict her at 3 different ages. The dolls range in size from 13 to 14 in. While most of the outfits have been carefully cut out but there a few uncut.
