About This Item

UK,slim 12mo p/back original,1st edn. [Paperback original denotes the first format and its first appearance in print of the book/title.Paperbacks usually follow on from the HB edn,but can be published at the same time as the HB edn,but p/back originals are published prior to any other format in the country of origin and sometimes, even worldwide.] FINE. No owner inscrptn and no price removal to cover.Bright, crisp, clean and sharp-cornered,glossy, colour pictorial artwork (non-credited) illustrated front cover with red,b/w and yellow lettering; with negligible shelf-wear or creasing to edges and corners - no major nicks or tears present - and no reading creases to spine/backstrip.Bright,crisp,red+black lettering to spine without any sunning or fading, which these issues are generally prone to. Top+fore-edges inevitably, but very lightly aged/toned and overall clean; contents bright, tight, clean with page-edge toning, otherwise solid and sound - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips, unread - apart from my own collation.UK, slim 12mo wraps,p/back original,1st edn,9-221pp [paginated] includes 20 chapters; plus [unpaginated] half-title+title pages,a dedication,a contents list/table and 1pp publisher's advert to verso of last paginated page. See also my book ID rja745017 for another Christopher Wood film adaptation of a Fleming novel - 'James Bond,The Spy Who Loved Me'.
Now outer space belongs to James Bond 007. A very regrettable incident has occured.A US MOONRAKER space shuttle,on loan to the British, has disappeared - apparently into thin air.Who has the spacecraft? The Russians? Hugo Drax,multi-millionaire supporter of the NASA space programme, thinks so.But Commander James Bond knows better.Aided by the beautiful - and efficient - Dr Holly Goodhead,007 embarks on his most dangerous mission yet. Objective: to prevent one of the most insane acts of human destruction ever contemplated. Destination: outer space. The stakes are high.Astronomical even. But only Bond could take the rough so smoothly.Even when he's out of this world . . . This, the original and re-written story/novel of the original UK, 1955,CAPE 8vo HB+dw/dj James Bond novel 'MOONRAKER', written under licence from Ian Fleming's copyright holders Glidrose.Ian Fleming regarded the novel as dated, and wouldn't agree to film rights for a film to be made of it,in that state. As with 'The Spy Who Loved Me' (1977) Christopher Woods** was again drafted in by Lewis Gilbert, the film's director,to rewrite the novel and produce a subsequent screenplay. The screenplay does not resemble the CAPE book's plot in anyway. To differentiate it from the original Fleming novel, 'James Bond and',was added to the title. Therefore,a 1st edn thus,in its own right.Fleming's original book had a low print run and is one of the most sought after of the James Bond novels. An interesting and unusual ephemeral item for Bondianna collectors and a welcome addition to any collection and to the Bond canon in particular. Please contact seller, because of the lighter weight and the value of this item, for correct, insured shipping/P+p quotes - particularly ALL overseas buyers - BEFORE ordering through the order page! N.B. ALL buyers please note, stocks' actual shipping/P+p costs are adjusted and any difference is refunded, after order's receipt and before the order's despatch, especially if the item(s) are offered either P+p included/FREE. ** N.B. US/Canada customers please be aware: Standard AIRMAIL postage from UK to these destinations can now cost more than the price of the book! If speed is not of the essence, then Economy rate is recommended - at approx. anything from a 1/3rd to 1/2 of the standard US AIR quote/rate - sometimes arriving sooner than the 42 days - but not always. **

Synopsis

James Bond and Moonraker is a novelization by Christopher Wood of the James Bond movie Moonraker. Its name was changed to avoid confusion with Fleming's novel. It was released in 1979. The screenplay of Moonraker differed so much from Ian Fleming's novel that EON Productions and Glidrose Publications authorized the film's screenwriter, Christopher Wood to write novelisation based upon the film, as he had done for The Spy Who Loved Me.
