A Jacobean Letter-Writer: The Life and Times of John Chamberlain by Edward Phillips Statham Hardback, year unstated but believed to be 1920, published by Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner &. Co., Ltd., London, 248 pages + xvi and 40-page publisher catalogue at rear.
Measures around 9" by 5 3/4" by 1 1/8". Dark blue cloth binding, gilt facsimile signature to front board, gilt lettering to spine. A little discolouration to spine, patches of speckled discolouration to front board. Scuffing and a little marking, some signs of shelf-wear, slightly bumped corners. Binding reasonably firm. Page edges browned and scuffed. Lower edges deckled, a little rough, presumably having been cut. Previous owner bookplate to front pastedown and inscription to front free endpaper. A little marking to endpapers, the occasional mark to page surfaces but otherwise clean, no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information
