About This Item
London: Henry Frowde / Hodder & Stoughton, no date [1914]. No edition stated, but presumed first edition (hardback). 4to (29cm by 25cm), [52pp]. 24 full-page colour plates by Cecil Aldin, and an illustrated title page. Original boards, with a colour illustration to the front board. The binding has been sympathetically rebacked with a brown cloth spine, there is some rubbing and scuffing of the boards, scattered foxing (affecting the preliminary pages more than the interior), and a gift inscription (dated 1920). Only a good minus copy overall, but the plates are in sound condition. Undated; COPAC gives a date of 1914 or 1915, and confirms that all copies were undated. An uncommon Aldin, with the plates featuring a dog and a cat.
