About This Item
London: Robert Hale, 1980. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good +. The interior of the book is crisp and clean. There is a gift inscription on the title page (dated 1980), signed Nella. I believe this to be written by the author, but I have not been able to verify her signature. The red covers show bumps to the top and bottom of the spine, but light wear else. The dust jacket is clipped, but is overall in very good condition. It shows a bit of edgewear and some soiling visible on the back panel, but no rips, chips or major problems. The jacket is now in a protective plastic cover. Synopsis: Melissa has always slightly resented the deep attachment her Aunt Laura has for the charming but ailing Fleurette, Comtesse de Crevecoeur and her handsome grandson Philippe. While Laura shared everything else with Melissa, including the management of an exclusive Ottawa art gallery, this is a mysterious part of her life that she never discusses. However, when Melissa has to go to Paris in her aunt's stead, she too begins to fall under the spell of Philippe, but family secrets and a cousin who is claiming both title and estate spell danger.
