Presumed first edition (see photo of publication page). Book is in new condition. Dj has a slight tear (about one inch long) on the font near bottom of spine, some slight shelf wear along edges, some wrinkling on inside front flap, and has been scotch taped at the rear flap to the inside cover.

Extensive text and photos on the creation, care, dancing and cultural significance of Pende masks by author who spent nearly three years in Zaire studying Pende sculpture.
