About This Item

Penguin, London, 1991. Reprint. Softcover. Good Condition. Introduction to the Penguin Freud Library, Sigmund Freud: A Sketch of His Life and Ideas by James Strachey, chronological table, bibliography and author index, list of abbreviations, list of parapraxes, index of dreams, index of symbols and general index. Photographic paperback binding with black coloured titles to the front panel and black and white coloured titles to the back strip. On the inside of the front cover is a reproduction of an artwork "the Prisoner's Dream" . These lectures were delivered by Freud during World War I. Never before, in the course of 30 years of lecturing at the University of Vienna, had he deliberately set down, with a view to publication, the full range of his theories and observations. This series, therefore, represents a stock-taking of psychoanalysis as it stood after the secession of Adler and Jung. In common with the majority of profound thinkers, Freud commanded an exceptionally simple and readable style of exposition: his conclusions about the unconscious mind, about dreams, fantasies, anxiety, symbolism, perversions, infantile sexuality and other aspects of psychoanalysis are summarised here with a telling and easy elegance. A little creasing of the book corners with rubbing of the edges and of the panels. Fading of the back strip. Light browning of the text block edges and age toning of the pages. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 560 pages. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Psychology & Psychiatry; ISBN: 0140137912.
