About This Item
Scranton PA: International Textbook Company, 1908. Hardcover. Fine/No Jacket (none issued). Half blue cloth and red stippled leather with gilt dividing lines and spine lettering, a touch of rubbing to bottom edge otherwise no faults. All edges red, dark marbled end-papers. vi + 81 + 82 + 85 + 72 + 43 + 70 + 41 + 54 + vii - xxxvii (index continuing pagination from prelims), numerous text figs. intermittently throughout numbered by chapter. Each of the four topics in divided into 2 or more separately paginated Parts. This is one of over a hundred volumes issued by the publisher to support correspondence courses run by as associated school. The founder went bankrupt in 1905 and the series was taken over by a local consortium. Several editions of this were apparently issued with the title topics slightly varying, some including 'Assaying'. Curiously verso t.p. states this as 'Entered at Stationers' Halll, London' - a long way from Scranton! Why ? No authors ever credited. Uncommon. 15.5 cm x 23 cm
