In writing it has been the author is aimed to introduce plant lovers to both the botany and horticulture of orchids, in the belief that a true understanding of these plants depends on recognising the relationship between these two aspects. The author for 12 years was involved in the study and cultivation of orchids and Britain's foremost botanical Gardens, the Royal botanic Gardens, Kew. His text is lavishly illustrated in a way that does full justice to the beautiful and bizarre qualities of these remarkable plants. the dust jacket is rubbed with 1/8 of an inch tear at the bottom of the spine section, slight abrasion at the top right of the buff front end paper, with a slight chip at that point, possibly insect damage, but no other damage evident throughout the book.
