About This Item
London: Chapman & Hall, 1995. 1st ed.. Hardback octavo, no jacket as issued, very good condition, pictorial cover, figures, tables, base spine end little creased. 356 pp. David Dent and colleagues provide a practical guide to the principles and practice of developing an integrated pest management (IPM) program. The term 'pest' in this book is used in its broadest sense and includes insects, pathogens, weeds, nematodes, etc. This will be a useful book for agricultural and plant scientists, entomologists, acarologists and nematologists and all those studying crop protection. Outlines the basic principles that underlie pest control (crop husbandry, socioeconomics, population ecology and population genetics), and reviews the control measures available. Also covers the techniques and approaches used in defining a pest problem, program planning and management, systems analysis, experimental paradigms and implementation of IPM systems. Final chapters give examples of IPM in different cropping systems. First edition stated.
