About This Item

New York: Nan A. Talese/Doubleday, 1992. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Near Fine. First US Edition. Boldly SIGNED with name, "Nov. 1992" on half-title page, same date of publication. Translated by Fallaci (from a translation by James Marcus) from the original Italian Insciallah, which was awarded the Prix Antibes. Oriana Fallaci (1929-2006) was an Italian journalist and author. She was famous worldwide for her coverage of war and revolution and her "long, aggressive and revealing interviews" with many world leaders. Inshallah is a real-life based novel chronicling the experiences of Italian soldiers on a 1983 peace keeping mission in Beirut. The novel draws heavily on Fallaci's own experiences as a war correspondent in the Middle East throughout the 1980s. 6¾ x 9½". 599. Dark blue over blue boards, title in gold, red endpapers. A near fine copy with a bit of scuff to bottom text block and boards; short ink line to ffep., in a striking near fine dust jacket.
