Bookplate of Thomas Richardson, Writer to the Signet, to FEP, scattered spotting. The first edition of political economist and mathematician Robert Hamilton's (1743-1829) attack upon the prevailing views of national finance, demonstrating that the creation of a sinking fund, as favoured by Pitt, would increase, rather than decrease, the national debt. .
