Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a F/O signature on the FFFP. Book Condition: Very Good +; light shelfwear to head, tail, and tips; light bumping to head and tail. DJ: Good +; Price Clipped; missing small pieces at top of front and rear panels; light wear at head, tail, and tips; light wear to flap folds. Green cloth boards and spine with gilt and black lettering and decorations on the spine and front board. Clean internals. Inner hinges are sound and not split. 301 pp 8vo. Rhode Island has always been a haven for pirates and sailboat buffs. It was the greatest slave-trading colony and the first to declare itself free from England. In this book, the author brings together contemporary documents and little known historical accounts to five the reader a new view of Rhode Island. Here are stories of religious squabbles, captivity by the Indians, slave-trading, privateering, revolution, romance and high society, including some first-hand accounts that were never intended for public viewing. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
