About This Item

United Kingdom: Booth-Clibborn Editions, 1999. First Edition Second Printing Stated . Hard Back. Near Fine/Very Good. 9" X 12. Pages Un-numbered. Bright red endpapers. An eight week journey as a work of art; Mexico City, Havana, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Santiago, Easter Island, Sydney. Introductory interview of the photographer by Mark Sanders on first four pages. Two page essay by Carlo McCormick on the last two pages. Over 125 full-page Color Photographs by Wapliington. Nick Waplington was born on Bikini Atol and lives and works inn London. The Indecisive Memento is his fifth book, previous titles include Sasfety in Numbers 1997, and Other Edens 1993. He is currently riging his unicycle from London to Bejing to highlight the plight of paparazzi photographers whose livelihood is being threatened by the advent of digital technology and overzealour protecdtionist new legislation. When asked why all of his photographs are punctuated with drawings inter-cut with text and what that signified Waplington replied "they are about my life as it was throughout this journey and an attempt to look at what it was I was trying to achieve. A lot of my fears throughout this trip were to do with the fact that I hate flying so I I decided to include that sense of anxiety into this book to confront what I would actually do or think in the unlikely event of a plane accident. What would go through my mind in those last 30 seconds when the plane was crashing down to earth". A colorful and very unique pictorial book. A large heavy book that may incur additonal shipping charges to some locations.
