About This Item

xii+253 pages with tables, charts, appendices and index. Royal octavo (9 3/4" x 7 1/4") bound in original publisher's quarter beige cloth with brown lettering to spine over brown boards in original pictorial jacket. First edition. In effect this is a short work, concise, not a work wasted: the style is strictly matter-of-fact, through neither perfunctory nor pedestrian. It is a research manual: its character as such is not unnaturally emphasized by the appendices. For the first time complete tables of holders of audiencia offices through the later part of colonial rule. Condition: Jacket price clipped else a near fine copy in like jacket.
