About This Item
Zürich.: Halle für Internationale neue Kunst (MGB)., 1979. Broadsheet newspaper.. (49 x 33 cm). Folded twice with resultant browning to creases and a small central hole to first 2 sheets.. pp. (12). The only number published of Image, the magazine edited and designed by Hans-Peter Feldmann, and printed in the format of a broadsheet newspaper. It was published on the occasion of Feldmann’s exhibition at InK, Halle für Internationale neue Kunst in Zürich. Feldmann’s newspaper consists entirely of monochrome photographic reproductions. Feldmann's reservoir of images spans the wide world of kitsch, movies, and photo-journalism a trove that reflects the allure of advertising, as well as the banality of the (petit bourgeois) everyday. With his pictures in ‘Image’ Feldmann attempts to disrupt the established use and status of pictures in art and in the public print-media. In 1979 Feldmann chose to remove himself from the art world for the next decade, and as such only this first issue of his newspaper was ever published.
