Between the Temple-Gates, London: Printed for J. Belttenham for Bernard Lintot. Second Edition Thus. Hardcover. Near Fine. 24mo 5" - 6" tall. Three odd volumes from the stated Second Edition of six volumes, published in London in the 1720s. Short tomes measuring 6" tall x 4 1/2" wide, handsomely rebound in a polished red Morocco leather, black-stamped ruling to front and rear covers, five raised bands to spines, gilt lettering and fleurs-de-lis there. Protected now in stiff plastic jackets. Volume II (printed in 1720 by W. Bowyer, for Bernard Lintot), [5], 6-242, and with fine black-and-white steel engravings at heads, folding map of Homer's Battels, and an essay on same by James Stanhope, quite engaging, and who dedicates the books to King George. This volume comprises Books V-VIII. Volume V (printed in 1720 by W. Hunter for Bernard Lintot) comprises the XVII Book of Homer's Iliad through the XXI and then concludes with a list of Bernard Lintot's catalogue, [6], 2-249 pp. Volume VI (printed in 1721 for J. Bettenham for Bernard Lintot), [5], 2-190 pp. then an Index of Persons and Things, a Poetical Index, and then an Index of Arts of Sciences, quite extensiveMember, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
