About This Item

Edinburgh; London: Waugh and Innes; T. Hamilton, J. Hatchard, and L.B. Seeley NONE [NONE] 1819, 2nd edition. (hardcover) xiv, 576 +. Near fine. 8vo. Contemporary rebind, quarter bound maroon morocco, with 5 raised bands, and bright gilt title stamped to spine. Handsomely and solidly rebound. Fold out map. While the directions to the binder shows 16 illustrations (includes map), there are actually 17 engraved plates, with two bound at pages 120 and 120 (a bonus illustration?), as well as one fold-out image of geysers. There is a name penned, recent, small and neat, to the inside front cover. Related curious ephemera laid in. Light foxing, faint smudges, sparingly throughout. To map and plates, as may be anticipated. Lovely copy..
