Hardcover. 24.5cm, 161p., with 5 illustrations including title vignette, bound in quarter blue green niger morocco, black ruled raised bands, gilt titles along the spine, marbled boards, near fine copy attractively bound (s1) Pierre Loti is the pseudonym of the French nautical novelist Julien Viaud (1850-1923). For two years he cruised the coast of Brittany providing the background for this novel of the men who fished the northern waters. A very attractively bound limited edition.
