About This Item

Corgi Books, London, 1971. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good Condition/Slipcased. Illustrator: photographs & map. Volume 1: – [14], 5 - 422 pages, acknowledgements, introduction by author and index. The text is illustrated copious black-and-white photography. At the beginning of the text is our photograph of the Iberian Peninsula. Photographic paperback binding with orange, white and black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Volume 2: – [12], 405 - 818 pages, ( I guess someone stuffed up with the proofreading when it came to the numbering of the pages), Index. The text, again, is illustrated with copious black and white photographs. Photographic paperback binding gold, white and black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Photographic slip case with orange, yellow and black coloured titles to the front panel and to the back strip. James Michener's magnificent book, lavishly illustrated and presented here in two volumes, captures full times the essence of the wild, contradictory land that is Spain – slipcase blurb. Both books show a little creasing of the book corners and reading creases to the back strip. Fading to both volumes with light age toning of the text block edges and pages. Bumping, rubbing and a little chipping of the slip case corners and the lower rear edge of the slip case has cracked with some Chipping also present. Fading of the back strip and to the top left hand edge of the slip case. this is the first softcover edition. Size: Trade Paperback. [10], 422 & [12], 405! – 818, [2] pages. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: photographs & map. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 1-2 kilos. Category: Travel & Places; Iberia; 1960s; Sociology & Culture.
