Bindings are generally good, with minor rubbing and shelf wear. (Note: V.4 is the exception, and has cracks along the spine, and a shody binding.) All edges gilt. Internally the books are quite nice, with numerous plate and chromolithographs. v.1: 577 pp. Illustrated with 14 chromolithographs and 410 wood engravings engraved by Huyot, v.2: iv, 603pp. illustrated with 15 chromolithographs and 440 wood engravings (4th ed.), v.3: 548pp. illustrated with 19 chromolithographs and 400 wood engravings; v. 4: xvi, 489 p. : illus. engravings, frontis., 31 plates. Note: Vol. 4 is the English translation of "XVIII me Siecle institutions, usages et costumes France 1700 - 1789." <br> This is an oversized or heavy book, which requires additional postage for international delivery outside the US.
