Tel Aviv: Palestine Publishing Co., 1936. First edition. Hardcover. g. Octavo. 43, [1]pp. Original half blue cloth over decorative paper covered boards. Inside of fly leaf inscribed and signed by L. Jaffe to Mr. Israel M. Sieff,* and dated Jerusalem 30 XII 1936. Title page in red and black lettering. Exquisite collection of 26 poems in which the author voices the lament that he had to give expression to his thoughts of Zion, of the Jewish revival, of the regeneration of Palestine, in a language other than Hebrew. Spine and edges slightly sunned. Lower front corner slightly bumped (not affecting pages). Minor age-toning along paper margin. Binding and interior in overall good+ condition. * Israel Moses Sieff, Baron Sieff (1889-1972) was an English businessman and the son of Ephraim Sieff. He was president of the Political and Economic Planning think-tank from its foundation in 1931 and its chairman until 1939. Sieff was chairman of the British retailer Marks & Spencer from 1964 to 1967. In 1966 he was made a life peer as Baron Sieff, of Brimpton in the Royal County of Berkshire.
