About This Item
New York: Random House, 1968. 1st Edition. Cloth. Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. No statement of edition but this is the first edition, $4.50 price on jacket. A Fine copy in FNear Fine dust jacket. With long inscription to "Max and Diana" dated March 15, 1969. The recipient is Max Steele, well known and well regarded North Carolina author and man of letters. Anderson writes how the jacket photo of him is uncharacteristic as his mouth is shut, that he was wearing Arthur Miller's sweater and the photo was taken by Miller's wife ( the photographer Inge Morath as credited on the flap ) thereby having greatness thrust upon him and how much he enjoyed the Steele's vodka, gin and hospitality. The jacket is very near Fine. A great copy.
