New York; Random House, 1968., 1968. Hard Cover. INSCRIBED FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. [12], 115, [1]. 3 monochrome photographic illustrations including frontispiece. Black quarter cloth with blue paper-covered boards; house motif in blind to upper board; in unclipped pictorial dust-jacket. A clean bright copy, inscribed in year of publication by the Author to actor Alan Webb,who was nominated for a Tony award for his performance in the play. Webb is pictured in two of the plates and the inscription is worth quoting : "Dear Alan, For doing this play and for your superb performance - my deepest thanks. You have no idea how exciting it is for a playwright to see a character so brilliantly realised. Watching you play "the old bastard" was one of the most satisfying experiences of my theatrical life, Affectionately, Bob". Jacket a little nicked & creased to edge, and slightly soiled to rear white panel. A Near Fine copy in Very Good jacket.
