About This Item

New York, New York: William Morrow & Company, Inc., 1934. First English Language Edition . Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. Personal story of the German Jewish playwright who was an active left-wing revolutionary during WWI & exiled by the Nazis during WWII. In 294 pages. Translated from the original German ("Eine Jugend in Deutschland') published in 1933, this is the FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, First Printing in English from 1934. Hardcover with tan cloth-covered boards is downgraded from Good to Fair because it is externally rather ugly: heavy soiling & foxing. Insides are generally very clean. The front hinge is cracked, there is moderate tanning around all page edges & endpapers, & a chip out of right margin on pg 113-114 that does not impact text at all; stain to bottom of pg 236, & former owner's name in pen on ffepOur photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (PST); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
