About This Item
New York, NY The Seabury Press, 1983. Hardcover First Edition USA (1983), so stated. Published simultaneously by Geoffrey Chapman in London. First Edition USA [1983], so stated. Near Fine in Near Fine DJ: The Book shows a touch of cock to the text block within square boards; a bit of crimp to the heel of the backstrip; a hint of shelf-soiling to the bottom edge of the amber, cloth-covered boards; else flawless; the binding remains perfectly secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome, nearly-new copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing a couple of minor, unobtrusive imperfections. Bright and clean. Corners sharp. Very close to 'As New'. The DJ shows only mild rubbing; else flawless; unclipped. While no longer absolutely pristine, remains very close to 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (9.35 x 6.35 x 0.75 inches). xiv, 174 pages. Translated from the original French edition of 1979 by David Smith. Published simultaneously by Geoffrey Chapman in London. Language: English. Weight: 18 ounces. Hardback with DJ. Yves Congar OP (1904 1995) was a French Dominican friar, priest, and theologian. He is perhaps best known for his influence at the Second Vatican Council. Many regard him as the single most formative influence on Vatican II. Congar's work late in life focused increasingly on the theology of the Holy Spirit, and his 3-volume work on the Spirit has become a classic. He was a member of several committees that drafted conciliar texts, an experience that he documented in great detail in his daily journal. He was created a cardinal of the Catholic Church in 1994.
