Chicago: Black Cat Press, 1937. 1st ed. Hardcover. Very Good. 69p. Original cloth. 24cm. Backstrip and adjacent areas faded on cover. No Jacket. Poetry. Davis, an African American author, wrote three books of strong poetry in the 1930s and 1940s while he was a working journalist in Chicago. He moved to Honolulu in 1948 and owned a small wholesale paper company and was heavily involved in leftist organizations. He also wrote a pornographic novel under a pseudonym. Davis is mentioned (as "Frank") in "Dreams of My Father" as someone our former President knew when growing up in Hawaii.
