University of Chicago Press, 1954. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very good/Poor. Very good in poor dust jacket. No stated edition, or number line (1st printing). Dust jacket is worn and torn, with the front panel missing. The book has dusting to the edges of the pageblocks and moderate shelfwear to the edges of the boards. There are two stray ink marks on the bottom of the pageblock (not bad for 70 year-old book!). A discussion of the psychoanalytical approach to psychology and culture. The classicist Norman O. Brown described the book as the most significant attempt at creating a "general theory of language" through a synthesis of psychoanalysis with other disciplines. By the author of the classic “The Peyote Cult” and “ Ghost Dance: The Origins of Religion”. Where possible, all books come with dust jacket in a clear protective plastic sleeve, sealed in a ziplock bag, wrapped in bubble wrap, shipped in a box.
