London: T. Bensley, et al., 1801. Hardcover. Annotations and preface by Zachary Grey. Complete 2-volume set. 8vo. Quarter dark green calf with gilt spine rules and lettering and marbled paper over boards. lii, 436pp; 446pp, (15pp), (1p ad). All edges marbled. Frontispiece, woodcuts, 17 full-page engraved plates. Very good. Faint edgewear; occasional foxing throughout text ranging from mild to moderate. A tight, clean and most handsome set of this edition of the once-renowned book-length poetry parody of Puritanism, originally published between 1663 and 1678. The engraved plates by Ridley after WilliamHogarth are complete and lovely, as are the woodcuts by Thomas Bewick's pupil Charles Nesbitt.
