The poem follows the knight Sir Hudibras, who is lauded with much praise, and it a satirical poem, directed against religious sectarianism.The poem was very well received when published, and was very popular, being reprinted many times.Written by Samuel Butler. Butler is best known for this work, which was very popular when it was first published, being reprinted many times in Butler's life.Illustrated by Zachary Grey. Including a life of the author. In a rebacked calf binding. Externally, smart. Minor marks and light rubbing to the boards. Light bumping to the extremities. Tide mark to the front board of Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean with only the occasional spot. Neat repair to the reverse of the folding plate facing page 381 of Volume I. Very Good Indeed
