Early feminine travel writing which is noted for emphasizing people over place by focusing on individuals they met and developing their own narrative personas, which would have been considered egotistical earlier in the period. Their younger sister Marion was a noted sufragette and artist. CONDITION Purple cloth with gilt title and decoration, bright gilt to all edges, chromithograph frontis illus in 5 tones, 342 pages. Copy is bright and clean, cloth is faded and chipped to spine ends and tips worn, prize inscription to front ep, tissue guard is toned, eps are split at hinge exposing mull which is intact.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
