Octavo, xii (last blank), 180 pages with numerous illustrations plus endpaper illustrations by Ernest H. Shepard. Gilt-decorated dark green leather, all edges gilt; leather a little scuffed and rubbed at the extremities, with the spine lightly tanned; early gift inscription on the half-title; minimal signs of age and use; an excellent copy. One of 4000 copies of the deluxe issue in full leather, and one of only 1200 bound in green; there were also 1200 in blue and 1600 in red.
Synopsis
The House at Pooh Corner (1928) is the second volume of stories about Winnie-the-Pooh, written by A. A. Milne and illustrated by E. H. Shepard. It is notable for the introduction of the character Tigger, who went on to become a prominent figure in the Disney Winnie the Pooh franchise. The title comes from a story in which Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet build a house for Eeyore. In another story the game of Poohsticks is invented.
