Roycrofters at the Roycroft Shop; East Aurora, NY, 1899. Hardcover. Good. Signed. #398 of 925 hand-illuminated limited edition copies. Signed by publisher Elbert Hubbard and illuminator Harriet Robarge. With hand-illuminations at title page, colophon, and first letter of each page. Brown half-suede with gilt spine titles in leather title window; grey boards with gilt titles at front panel. Suede rubbed and edgeworn, with fore-edge corners frayed to boards. Suede spinal margins of both front and back covers are toned green. Gilt at both spine and front panel is sharp and bright. Top of textblock edged in gilt. Spine square. Binding sound. Original ribbon marker is frayed loose, but present. Bookplate at front paste down. Title page and colophon illuminations have left faint ghost illustrations at opposite pages. Interior else clean, pages bright, text unmarked. Stored and sold in protective sleeve.
