Pictorial card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is not creased or split; text is secure in binding. 200 pp 8vo. This book is the story of the author's journey to authenticate the records of The House Building, 729-731 Massachusetts St., Lawrence KS. The building was erected in two parts in 1858 and 1860 and was the only building in Lawrence that survived Quantrill's Raid on the city in 1863. The book covers, the owners, the remodelings (including the loss of the third floor), uses, and historical preservation battles to preserve the building for the future. A clean very presentable copy with little library use.
