About This Item

New York Chicago: A. L. Burt Company, 1932. Reprint. Pictorial cloth. Very Good/Good. Small 8vo, decorative black cloth with red lettering on spine and front cover with large man's image repeated from dust jacket, illustrated title page, frontispiece, and 5 plates with captions by Rea Irvin, archival mylar-protected pictorial dust jacket (price-clipped) depicting a heavyset man clicking champagne glasses with another man, 307 pages. Sir P[elham] G[renville] Wodehouse KBE (1881 - 1975) was a beloved English author who was one of the most widely read humorists of the 20th century. They include jolly gentleman of leisure, Bertie Wooster and his sagacious valet Jeeves; the immaculate and loquacious Psmith; Lord Emsworth and the Blandings Castle set; the Oldest Member, with stories about golf; and Mr Mulliner. UNCOMMON edition with so complete a pictorial dust jacket. Solid copy with uniform age-toning. Surprisingly complete dust jacket with some soil, considerable wear, fading (especially affecting the hard-to-read title), and a large loss around the top of the dj's spine.

Synopsis

P.G. Wodehouse was born in 1881. He is the creator of Jeeves, Blandings Castle, Psmith, Ukridge, Uncle Fred and Mr Mulliner stories and novels.
