About This Item

London: Faber and Faber, 1965 . First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Near Fine. 9" by 6". None. The first edition of this collection of essays by the well renowned British novelist William Golding. First edition of The Hot Gates and Other Occasional Pieces by William Golding in the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. A near fine copy of this collection of essays by the well renowned British author of Lord of the Flies. Divided into four sections, the work discusses 'People and Places', 'Books', Westward Look', and 'Caught in a Bush'. In 'Books', the essay 'Fable' answered questions about Lord of the Flies, based on lectures Golding gave at UCLA, hoping it would answer many of the questions from the students.  In the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. There is some slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There is some spotting to the fore edge. The hinges are slightly strained but firm. To the dust wrapper, there are some small tears and light creases and general age toning to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
