New York: Whittlesey House. 1949. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Young radical during the Great Depression. A near fine copy in near fine dust jacket with the mildest signs of wear, but numerous tape mends on verso. Laid in is an Autograph Letter, signed, 1947, from the author, offering to sign a copy of his earlier book, Burial of the Fruit, and asking the customer where he purchased it. Dortort went on to have a very successful career as a screenwriter and TV producer, two examples of which were Bonanza and High Chaparal.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 315 pp .
