Her husband Joseph Morrell Dodge had a long and distinguished career and tried to help reform Europe but later wound up as financial advisor to Douglas MacArthur in the economic revitalization of Japan. This edition is in very good condition internally. Photos of Ikebana arrangements by the famous Japan Ikebana master. Brown leather boards with gold writing and images and raised bands on spine; embossed image of planet, sky, and tree in gold on front and back board. Novel not issued with dust jacket. Top corner of back board shows slight wear; top edges of pages show some spotting (see pic). This is a special Collector's Edition Easton Press printing (with white bookmark) bound in leather, illustrated by Bob Eggleton with an introduction by Charles Sheffield. Niven and Pournelle's classic science-fiction tale in a Very Fine copy. Hardcover, but no dust jacket, so novel cannot be protected by archival Mylar cover.
